Removing Wrinkles in Clothing

It is no secret that ironing can be a hassle for most people. However, going out in public wearing a wrinkled shirt or a pair of pants that were inside of your dresser for weeks are not great options for the majority of people who want to look presentable.

What if you don’t have an iron, though? Not to worry! Try out these tips for removing wrinkles in your clothes without an iron.

1. Use a Flat Iron (Hair Straightener)

Hair straighteners are not just meant for fixing your hair anymore. Flat irons are great for quickly removing wrinkles in your collared shirt or your blouse. Start by cleaning the flat iron to ensure any remaining hair products are off of the ironing section. It is also essential to be aware of your temperature settings. Cotton needs high heat, and silk needs low heat.

Next, pull the piece of clothing tight and run the straightener a few times along the section you want to smooth out. Move the straightener fast so that your clothing doesn’t get burnt. Hair straighteners work great on collars, cuffs and hems.

2. Steam Your Clothes With The Shower

Next time you take a shower, close all of the doors and windows and observe the build-up of steam in the room. Hanging your clothing up in the bathroom when you take a shower is a great way to get wrinkles out of your garments. The steam generated from the shower usually takes around 10 minutes to work out the wrinkles in your clothing.

3. Use a Teapot or Kettle

Perhaps the oldest trick in the book to get clothing wrinkles out is to use a regular metal teapot or kettle. Fill the pot with water and boil it. Empty the water and use the bottom of the pot as your makeshift iron. This is a great way to get concentrated heat onto your clothing to smooth out wrinkles. You will have to move fast, though, as the pot does not retain heat very long.

4. Use Your Dryer

Your dryer is an excellent option for getting wrinkles out of your clothing, and there are several ways to do it:

  • If your wrinkled clothing is thick, put it in the dryer with a damp white towel and let it dry for 15 minutes.
  • If your wrinkled clothing is thin, put it in your dryer along with a wet sock for 15 minutes.
  • You can also use a few dryer sheets to get the wrinkles out of your clothes. Go with about 15 minutes for this option as well, and it should do the trick!

Use a Professional for Wrinkle-Free Clothes

While all of these tricks are great and may work in a pinch, nothing beats the look of a professionally pressed shirt, pair of pants, or other clothing items. It really does give you the best way to make a great first impression. Are you tired of trying to get the wrinkles out of your clothes? Don’t waste any more time! Leave it to the professionals!
